Without calling ahead, I walked into Leo's for the first time in July 2024 looking for a specific watch -- a Shinola Monster GMT in Dark Olive. It was released in November 2022 but had long been since sold out from Shinola stores and online resellers.

Bill greeted me after ensuring their current client was all set. They effortlessly answered a question I had about a particular dial color and case size on a different watch. I quickly moved him to the Shinola I was looking for -- the GMT I had spent a few months looking for. He asked how I found the shop and I let him know that in a last ditch effort, I googled some terms online. Near the top of the results, a link directly to the product's page on Leo's website popped up! Since I lived just up in Oakland County, I decided to take a drive over on a sunny Saturday to see if it was really there. After telling him all this, it made his day as he's responsible for their web presence.

After closing the sale on the Shinola, we had some great conversations over how various sizes of Oyster Perpetual cases wear much differently than their case sizes would indicate. Bill was even willing to use one of his personal travel watches to help demonstrate! I have no idea if Bill does that for every person he sells a watch to, but it shows a passion for the hobby that draws in other horologists/watch collectors.

Recently my husband's Rolex was stolen from our house, I bought his watch at Leo's 18 years ago, he loved it, so I wanted to replace it for him, we have since moved to Florida so not knowing where to turn I called Bill at Leo's, he actually had the same watch my husband had, I was keeping this as a surprise, so Bill video chatted with me, when my husband wasn't around, showed me the watch and then offered to overnight it to me.
It was such a wonderful experience, Bill was great.
